Happy, Happy July! I cannot believe how fast the month of June flew on by! It seems that I inadvertently took the month of June off my home organization quest. It certainly was not planned. I was able to get a few smallish jobs done around the house, but not much. There just never seemed to be time available to work on this goal. Sigh.
How is your home organization going? Are you struggling with keeping at it as much as I am? Remember, we have not come this far to only come this far. It is summer and I am pushing through to work more on this goal. My goal set last January was to purge and reorganize my entire home over a 12 month period.
I am moving forward and planning to tackle my kitchen in July and the garage in August. These are two of the toughest areas in our home!
So why was June so busy? Here is quick recap:
- 66 Reading assessments scored
- Report cards due – I teach Language Arts and Social Studies to 66 sixth graders.
- End of the school year! Last teaching day was June 10.
- Classroom cleaned, and closed, cumulative folders filed.
- Co-hosted Nicole’s graduation party at her dad’s. I will be sharing the easisiet ice cream bar ever soon!
- Attended a teaching conference in Napa – PBL World – Loved it!
- Hosted Ladies Pool Party
- A week’s vacation in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico! More to come about that as well! Such a great trip!
Everyday of June was booked! I have no complaints – it was all great. Just so busy that my home re-organization needed to take a back seat. I had many, many late nights just trying to make deadlines and fulfill commitments. Whew!
So here we go ~ it is July and a whole new month lies before us like a blank canvas ready to be filled. There are 44,640 minutes in the month of July – How many will be allocated to reorganization? Well, my plan is to spend 15 minutes a day four days a week – that is only 240 minutes or only .5% of the month! That’s POINT five percent. Such a small amount. Given the shape of my kitchen – I will most likely be giving it more time than that! Plus it is my summer vacation so my schedule is a bit more freed up.
Let’s take a look at the calendar:
No, I will most likely not be cleaning under my kitchen sink on Monday, July 4th. But it needs to be done – so I am hoping to actually tackle this job on Sunday. If not, I guess I will be squeezing it in somewhere else. It needs to get done, and fortunately it is not a huge job so I am confident that I can fit it in this weekend somewhere.
