Summer is officially here, but I was lucky enough to get a taste of it early. During our Teacher Appreciation Week in May we were treated to a fun-filled week of Aloha spirit.
As you know, I am a teacher – I love the time with my students and my time in the classroom. Teaching really is my calling and the rewards are many. But once a year – the rewards become much more tangible in the form of many thanks of appreciation from the parents and students.
I am very lucky, our parent community goes all out when it comes to Teacher Appreciation Week! This year’s theme was a Hawaiian Luau. We were greeted with a huge Mahalo!
All week long the parents showered us with love, appreciation and treats! I admit, I took a sneak peak of the staff room so that I could snap a few pictures on Sunday evening. This was before the Monday morning breakfast was laid out. The room was so much fun – colorful and inviting. Come along and take a look…
Teacher Appreciation Week Aloha Style
A teacher staff room Tiki Bar is filled with our favorite coffee drinks. My kind of Monday morning Tiki! Plus a breakfast spread with enough goodies to make everyone smile.
There really is something special about being handed a flower from each student on a Monday morning. My students’ smiles as each child handed me their blossom along with my favorite coffee drink made my heart swell. Right off the bat, we knew that we are appreciated.
We received a gift of Aloha T-Shirts that we all wear with pride.
A bit of candy – ok, lots of candy was laid out later in the week. Some sugar to help keep us going. I always love the creativity of the parents that put this together for us.
And still the gifts kept on coming! We also received new insulated drink holders. I love filling mine with our fruit flavored infused waters. It keeps my water chilled.
The campus was completely decked out with palm trees, beach balls, decorated classroom doors, and the aloha spirit!
As you can see – we were completely were spoiled by our school community. Thank you to our parents that made us feel extra special all week long. A big Mahalo to them!

Hi Stacey,
Do you know if the Mahalo flyer (listing the week’s events) is customizable? I’d be happy to purchase the template for someone if you can point me in a direction. Thanks!
Hi Shelly,
I’m sorry it is not available. We have a parent that is a professional graphic organizer do the work. All of her work is produced on her system and it is not shareable. Good luck with your planning!
Shelly, have you ever used PicMonkey? It is super easy, and I think you could make a very similar flyer using their collage setting. I use it for lots of pictures!
I’m interested in the shirts also. Does she sell online?
No, I’m sorry. She does not. It was a one time order that was placed.
Hi Deanne! The shirts were designed by a parent that is also a graphic designer. I am not sure who she uses to silk screen the shirts. I will see if I can find out. Yes, it was a wonderful celebration and I really love my shirt.
Hello! I love this Teacher Appreciation theme! Can you tell me where the shirts were made? Our theme this year at school is “Family” so these would be a perfect gift for the teachers.
Thank you for posting this wonderful celebration!
