The pool is open! I celebrated my first official day of summer by hosting one of my Ladies’ Pool Parties! All of us ladies deserve a day of floating in the pool, hanging with great friends, eating some good food, and enjoying a few of my (should be) famous jello shots.
Amongst my friends I am known for making jello shots. So much so that I even have what is called a Jellinator! This is a jello shot making device. Really.
I have made jello shot all kinds of ways. In lemon rinds –
and in a large pyrex pan with the jello cut into squares. But I have found that the little plastic cups work really well and are so easy to serve the shot in. Plus the fact that they are plastic makes it easy to squeeze the jello straight into your mouth. 🙂
I have also experimented with a number of flavors including Pink Lemonade, Arnold Palmer Lemon Tea, Lime Margarita, Blueberry Ocean, A Red, White, and Blue version, and my latest batch of Lemon-Strawberry, Orange Creamsicle, and Mango-Pineapple. There are so many flavored vodkas out there that you can create many unique flavors! Of my latest batch, all three were delicious and as for a favorite, I’d say the Orange Creamsicle was the winner with the Lemon-Strawberry a very close second. But not to worry about the Mango-Pineapple, they were all devoured as well!
I serve jello shots for our ladies’ pool party because they are fun, tasty, refreshing AND there are no kids present. I do make a point of only serving these when there are no children around that could pick one up thinking that they are plain jello. That would be a disaster and the end of any fun. So please keep in mind these are filled with alcohol and are not for children! They are also to be enjoyed in moderation as they go down oh-so easy!
To balance out the jello shots (and wine) I do serve a make-ahead menu. This pool party featured my Summer Orzo Salad and well as a delicious green salad topped with burrata and bruschetta. My friends also brought fresh fruit, chips, and dip.
I really love hosting ladies’ pool parties! The kids get to spend the day out with their friends and mom gets a day to hang with her friends. What makes it even better is that everything is prepared ahead of time so like my friends, I spend the afternoon lounging in the pool as well. This gathering like all my gatherings started with and easy Evite. Summer is here and Evite has so many creative and fun invitations to send.
This invitation looks just like my friends! Don’t you think?
Party hosting is easy with Evite and a make-ahead menu. Be sure to check out their other great summer invitations. After all – summer is meant to be enjoyed! The pool is open and this is barbecue and picnic season. Go ahead and throw in a few jello shots at the adult gatherings for everyone’s enjoyment. They are delicious!

I am in love with these jello o shots <3
Yum! Would have to make sure the kids don’t drink these! That would be bad but they look so fun.
This looks pretty amazing. I love a good jello shot at a party. I love the recipes and will try them out.
Omg love it!!!!!! I use to be Jell-O shot obsessed! Now I only make them for special occasions. They always lead to a good time when served at parties that’s for sure!
Oh, what fun! I want to be your neighbor and come to your next pool party. We’re going to the beach with friends and I’ll have to impress with your jello shot recipes.
I’d love to have you at our ladies’ pool parties! If you do make them for the beach just remember that they melt really fast in the sun. The little plastic cups with lids on would be great to keep in a cooler. Then they will be fine. Direct sun – not so good 🙂 Happy Fourth!
I have never heard of the Jellinator…What fun!!!! I wish I lived closer, this looks like a blast! We are gathering for a bash this weekend – I may have to make some old fashioned jello shots. They will be such a hit. Thanks!!!!
It is always a fun surprise! I might be making some watermelon ones for the Fourth. I’ll hallow out a small watermelon half and fill it with the jello. Once it is set, you just slice it up! Kind of like the lemon ones I made up above. Happy Fourth!
Oh this looks like so much fun! I have to say I have never made nor had jello shots, but it is definitely something that would be fun for a party!
Tons of fun! Takes us right back to our childhood but with that added ingredient of vodka 🙂
Oh my goodness. This looks perfect for a party, or just an evening at home with a few friends!
There is something about jello that is fun as an adult! Especially the creamsicle version with vanilla vodka.
I love that you have a machine that helps you to make Jello Shots! So much fun. I think it is great that you can have a girls day with your besties.
The machine is fun, but you are right – time with besties is tops!
ahh!! so fun! I love the twist on college jell-o shots and adulting them, lol! Thanks for the recipes, a must-do this summer!
You’re welcome! Dressing them up a bit is fun and tasty 🙂
Oh man. This is taking me back to college! One time, I was having a party, and my mom actually called the number on the back of the JELLO boxes to ask how to make jello shots. Lol. they totally knew, too!
That is too funny! I bet Jell-O gets a lot of calls like that.
The jello shots sound fun bu ti want the recipe for the rice/salad dish. That looked so good.
