Oh my goodness! One year ago today I wrote my first ever blog post on Positively Stacey. It all started on a whim. I wasn’t sure where I was going with this project, I wasn’t even really sure what all a blog entailed. But I did a little research, decided on a domain name (one that was available) and started to write.
Initially my goal was to do just that – to write. I teach writing, I love to write, but I never seemed to ever carve out any time for myself to write. I figured a blog would force me to find the time. With a blog, unlike writing a novel, your entries are short, mine are varied, and based on my life. I knew I did not want to write a public journal, but I figured at my age I have learned a few lessons and could share some of my experiences with others. My goal with my writing was to write posts that I thought maybe helpful to or inspire others.
And here I am 214 posts later! Still pounding away on the keyboard putting forth my words and thoughts to the public. Surprisingly, some people actually listen 🙂 I am currently in the process of migrating my blog to a new platform. I am moving from Weebly to WordPress. This has been a huge process and is taking hours and hours of my time. However through this process, I am currently going over all 213 of my prior posts, which is quite a trip down memory lane for me.
I thought it would be fun to share a few highlights from my first year of blogging with you:
My Favorite post was the one actually written by my husband:
My Most Widely Read post (because it was syndicated by BlogHer):
My Most Controversially post, and the only one that touched on politics:
My First Compensated post was a series of three. The third included a video:
My Most Searched for post via google:
My Most Watched Interview:
Our Favorite Dessert:
And a few that hold a Special Place in My Heart:
So in a round-about-way I guess these are the top 12 posts from my first year blogging. Blogging for me has been an amazing journey. I have learned so much about the process, the business, and myself. I have made new friends, and I am part of a new community. A community that a year ago, I did not even know existed.
I am looking forward to the coming year and continuing to grow my blog. I am excited to launch my new look. The tentative date for going live with the new platform is Jan. 5th. So stay tuned – the look and structure are completely different, but the content is still all me.
