Sharing My Money Questions, Stories, and Mistakes with Sum180

It's Time to Show Up for Yourself

Money. As I have said before, “We all need it. We all work for it. It is the bloodline of our economy and it is necessary to keep our households running.  So why do we not spend more time talking about it? It is a necessity, yet we tend to keep money conversations hush-hush. Sometimes we even sweep financial concerns under the rug.”

Creating-a-Family-Budget

That was how I started a prior blog post titled, Financial Planning for a Better Future with SUM180. In that post I shared my financial journey – the ups and downs, the twists and turns, my losses and rebuilding. I have made mistakes and I have learned!

The saying goes, when we know better we do better. I am trying to live up to that idea and working on not making the same mistakes twice. I have also started talking a lot about my financial journey in hopes that others can learn from my experiences. I am sharing my stories, questions, mistakes, and successes on the community board of SUM180 along with other women that are opening up about money.

Sharing My Money Questions, Stories, and Mistakes with Sum180

We seem to avoid talking about money. That’s unfortunate. It is when we can have candid conversations, that we can learn from each other. That is my goal in working with SUM180 – to help myself and others learn more and do better in dealing with money: budgets, investments, and planning for the future. One great aspect of the SUM180’s community board is that the experts weigh in and offer advice!

So come and check out my stories, questions, and mistakes on the SUM180 Community Board. They have many forums filled with information.

When it comes to money we all have goals – reaching those goals can be a bumpy road. But having a clear plan and support of like-minded women will help us along this journey. Having a forum for candid conversations also keeps my financial goals first and foremost in my mind. That is an added plus!

  1. Financial discussions are always so hard. My husband and I do a pretty good job about staying on the same page regarding finances thankfully! I do wish we did a better job budgeting though!

I think we all wish we did better budgeting! Even on our good months, I think we could do a bit better.

  2. I always avoid financial discussions with my husband, it just makes me feel very nervous. And there’s no reason for me to feel nervous about our finances! I definitely need to get comfortable with these conversations.

    1. Stacey says:

Yes, I really encourage you to have those conversations.

  3. This is such a tough topic and, you’re right, not a lot of people like talking about money unless we’re spending it 🙂 Thank you for the savings tips!

    1. Stacey says:

Lol! You are right people do talk about their spending!

  4. Theresa says:

This sounds like an interesting and useful tool! Finances are so personal. This is a great way to get the advice you need, safely!

    1. Stacey says:

I find it to be super helpful!

  5. Discussing money does give me anxiety. I’m not where I want to be and it frustrates me. I really don’t talk about my finances with anyone but I know I need to do something to make my situation better for the future.

    1. Stacey says:

  6. Ugh. Money. I have made the same mistakes twice. Well, actually more than twice. Same brick wall. I need to better manage and learn how to get my budget on track.

Other than my Spouse, I don’t talk to anyone else about my finances. I like to keep it personal, but it would help us out to get an outside perspective.

    1. Stacey says:

      It sure helps me. 🙂

  8. Money. My parents favorite subject. They never shut up about it. Every conversation is all related to money. Personally I think the subject shouldn’t be so openly discussed but then again I make money online and it a concept not many people get. So i feel uneasy talking about it. But i think for older generation – it an open discussions. However they did teach me good money habit at young age so it not all bad. xx

    1. Stacey says:

Sounds like you are on the right road!

  9. I feel like I have learned so much from those that do share actual real life numbers. I am still to private to share all my info but am grateful to those that do.

    1. Stacey says:

Yes, we can learn so much from others’ realities. But it is hard to share at times. Especially the mistakes.

  10. I think it’s so important to establish good money habits at a young age. Not that you should bombard a 6 month old with investing in the stock market, lol. But at least start discussing money topics when they’re old enough to understand.

    1. Stacey says:

Lol – yes, I would agree. Six months is a bit on the early side. But the time will fly by fast and you will be having those conversations before you know it. Thanks for visiting!

  11. I wish it wasn’t such a taboo subject. I think it is incredibly important to teach our kids good money habits, and how can we do that if we never talk about money!

    1. Stacey says:

You are right! I just took my daughter yesterday to open her first IRA. That is a big step!

  12. I love the conversations but I think they make most people uncomfortable. We make good money but don’t funnel it the best way to get the highest return.

    1. Stacey says:

There is so much to learn about investing – it can get really confusing!

  13. I am really open when it comes to money and budgeting. I know it is something my husband and I talk about a lot and that works for us and keeping us on track.

    1. Stacey says:

That is awesome! I know the first time I learned to say, “I just can’t afford that.” out loud to my friends was really freeing.

  14. I’ll admit that I’m not one to talk about our finances with anyone other than my husband. I don’t think that if I had a blog that was a lifestyle niche that I would be comfortable enough to talk about them. However, I applaud others when they do, because then I get to read some great tips, learn from others mistakes, and so on.

    1. Stacey says:

It is a little scary opening up about finances. But I do hope that sharing my mistakes will help others do better. Thanks for visiting.
