Sweeter Together

I love the weekends that my hubby gets the itch to barbecue! In our home Gavin is truly the king of barbecue and slow-cooked meats. Cooking outside is a bit of a passion with him – well, barbecue and and his motorcycle. On these beautiful summer weekends it’s kind of a tough choice for Gavin – to head out for a ride or slow cook some meat. I’m glad that this last weekend he choose the later.

Pulled Pork

By the looks of everyone’s faces as the sunk their teeth into his (should be) famous pulled pork sandwiches – we were all glad he chose to barbecue this past weekend.

But man, woman, and kids cannot live by pulled pork sandwiches alone. No way! Beautiful summer days are also designed for DREYER’S Ice Cream! A day spent smoking meat, whipping up the easy cider vinegar sauce and assembling these oh-so-delicious sandwiches deserves to be topped off with a creamy bowl of DREYER’S!

DREYER'S Ice Cream

Seriously there is no better pairing than the tangy flavor of pulled pork and Creamy DREYER’S Ice Cream! My kids’ favorite is DREYER’S Nestlé Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream while I favor DREYER’S Baby Ruth® Ice Cream. Both are delicious! Really what is not to love about our favorite creamy (made with fresh milk & cream) ice cream inspired by our favorite candies like Nestlé Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cups and Baby Ruth® – Double yum!

DREYER'S Ice Cream

I found so many wonderful new flavors of DREYER’S at Walmart in the freezer aisle! It was hard to choose which one… or two… But I know my kids love Nestlé Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cups and I love Baby Ruth® so the decision was made. For now. Next time it just might be Rolo or KitKat for me. But my fam,  they are true DREYER’S Nestlé Butterfinger® Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream loyalists!

If you are having a hard time deciding which flavor you should choose, then check out this list of Walmart stores  – They are going to be having ice cream tasting! A chance for yourself to taste how delicious DREYER’s Ice Cream, proudly made with fresh milk & cream with no rBST (milk production hormone) and no artificial colors or flavors, really is!

Just like DREYER’S Ice Cream is the perfect pairing for the pulled pork sandwiches, this cider vinegar sauce is the perfect pairing for pulled pork!

Smoking a pork butt is all business and takes 5 – 7 hours. So by no means is this one of those quick meals to throw together! The good news is that once the pork is covered with Gavin’s tasty rub it is placed on the ‘cue. Watching the temperature is key, but other than that – it is a set it and forget it process.

Until the pork is removed.  That is when you get busy pulling the meat apart and mixing the meat with this yummy and very easy cider vinegar sauce.
